Report reveals alleged new mass deportation plan targeting Haitians in US

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has reportedly developed a new operational plan targeting Haitian citizens who will lose their Temporary Protected Status (TPS), with actions potentially beginning in the coming days. This plan, reportedly pushed by the Trump administration, is said to focus on Haitian communities in Ohio.

Springfield, Ohio, is identified as a central location for these new coordinated arrests by ICE agents. The Supreme Court has previously opened the door to the end of TPS, leaving many Haitians in the U.S. uncertain about their future. More than 300,000 Haitians currently hold TPS and risk losing their legal status to live and work in the U.S. if they do not secure another form of immigration status.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is reportedly offering a financial incentive of $2,600 and a free flight back to Haiti for individuals who choose to self-deport. This move intensifies fears among Haitian families residing in the United States, who have relied on TPS since its creation by Congress in 1990 to provide temporary protection for individuals from countries experiencing conflict or natural disasters.
