Reports: Leafs land Raddysh from Lightning

In a significant move, the Toronto Maple Leafs have reportedly acquired defenseman Darren Raddysh from the Tampa Bay Lightning. The deal, structured as a sign-and-trade, brings the 30-year-old Toronto native back to his hometown.

As part of the transaction, Raddysh has reportedly agreed to an eight-year contract extension with the Maple Leafs, with an annual value exceeding US$8 million. This long-term commitment underscores the team's belief in his potential and his fit within their system.

Raddysh is coming off a career-defining 2025-26 season, where he posted impressive numbers with 22 goals and 70 points in 73 games. This performance significantly surpassed his previous career high of 37 points in the 2024-25 season. He also contributed a goal and two points in seven playoff games for the Lightning.

Throughout his career with Tampa Bay, Raddysh accumulated 35 goals and 143 points in 249 games. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, making this sign-and-trade deal a crucial move for the Maple Leafs to secure his services.
