Rescene Named Suwon Ambassadors to Promote Hwaseong Cultural Festival Worldwide

Popular girl group Rescene has taken on a special mission from Suwon: travel around the city and bring its 63rd Hwaseong Cultural Festival to audiences worldwide.

Suwon appointed the group as city promotional ambassadors on September 6. Mayor Lee Jae-joon personally presented the members with traditional envoy-style hats and promotional badges, asking them to spread the appeal of Suwon throughout the city.

The partnership began on June 24, when Rescene became official promotional ambassadors. The city has now elevated the group into “promotional envoys,” borrowing the image of secret royal inspectors from the Joseon era. The concept also features member Liv, who comes from Suwon, returning to her hometown with her fellow members in a modern version of a triumphant homecoming.

Rescene plans to film and release promotional content titled “Rescene’s Journey Through Suwon.” The group will visit the Suwon Traditional Culture Center, Dongjangdae, the traditional archery field and Namsuheon in the Haenggung-dong area. The videos will appear sequentially on the group’s official social media accounts and YouTube channel.

The festival runs from October 4 to 11 and includes a 1,500-seat production called “Suwon Fantasy Yajo,” combining mounted martial arts, group choreography and military strategy demonstrations with media mapping. The water performance “Seonyumong” will combine water, light and music at Yongyeon pond. Other interactive programs will reinterpret King Jeongjo’s ideas and the architectural beauty of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress.
