Residential building fire in Changhua City, one person reportedly trapped

A fierce fire erupted in a multi-story residential building on Yongle Street in Changhua City on Thursday afternoon, sending thick smoke billowing into the sky. The blaze quickly spread, prompting a swift response from the fire department.

Dozens of firefighters from multiple stations, including the First Brigade, Shengang, Huatan, and East District branches, rushed to the scene. They successfully rescued elderly residents from the first floor and safely relocated them outdoors.

Initial reports indicated that one person might be trapped on the fourth floor, within a metal-clad structure on the rooftop. Firefighters pushed upwards into the building, attempting to combat the intense heat and flames to reach the potential victim.

However, the situation at the scene was chaotic, and the presence of a trapped individual remained unconfirmed. Police officers were deployed to manage traffic control at key intersections surrounding Yongle Street. The fire broke out around 2:30 PM.
