Residents asked, and Mezitli moves ahead with a second market in Akdeniz district

Mezitli Municipality is preparing a second market area in Akdeniz district after residents said the existing site was too crowded and difficult to reach.

Mayor Ahmet Serkan Tuncer said the project came directly from neighborhood requests. He said the municipality had begun the necessary work to reduce congestion and give residents a more comfortable and orderly place to shop.

We have taken this demand into account and started the necessary work. Our aim is both to reduce congestion in the area and to enable our fellow residents to shop in a more comfortable and orderly environment.

The new site is planned to offer more than space for vendors. According to Tuncer, it will include surface paving, lighting, toilets and a prayer room, bringing together facilities residents need while using the market.

The municipality presents the project as a response to practical demands identified in the neighborhood, with the stated goal of turning those requests into local services.
