Restoration of Vila Dominus begins in Palić, hotel construction planned behind it

The historic Vila Dominus, built in the late 19th century in Palić's Splitska aleja, is set for a comprehensive reconstruction. This initiative marks a significant transformation for the property, which is located within a protected cultural and historical zone.

Demolition has begun on structures behind the villa to make way for a new, modern hotel. This adjacent development is slated for completion in 2027. The investor behind this project is the Subotica-based company "MD Inženjering."

Behind the Villa, there is an added part that will now be returned to its original form and will be connected to the new building, which will be more modern and subdued in style so as not to detract from the Villa.

The villa itself, measuring approximately 80 square meters, will serve as the entrance to the new one-story hotel. While not a separately protected monument, Vila Dominus holds value as part of the broader Palić core's spatial and cultural-historical ensemble, a designated cultural asset.

Balaž Sič, director of the Inter-Municipal Institute for the Protection of Monuments of Culture in Subotica, explained that the existing rear addition will be restored to its original form and integrated with the new hotel. The new structure will feature a more subdued, modern design to ensure the villa remains the focal point. Sič noted the villa's poor condition, emphasizing that the reconstruction will revitalize it.
