Retired police officer kills brother in inheritance dispute in Turkey

In Çorum, Turkey, a dispute over inheritance tragically escalated into violence, resulting in the death of one brother at the hands of another. The incident occurred in the Tutpınar neighborhood of Uğurludağ district, where retired police officer Mehmet Ü. allegedly shot his brother, Ziya Ü., during an argument.

The altercation reportedly began as a verbal disagreement concerning family inheritance. However, the situation quickly devolved into a physical confrontation, during which Mehmet Ü. is accused of firing a handgun, striking Ziya Ü.

Emergency services were dispatched to the scene following the shooting. Medical personnel provided initial treatment to Ziya Ü. at the location before transporting him to Uğurludağ State Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, Ziya Ü. succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Following the incident, authorities initiated a manhunt for the suspect, Mehmet Ü., who fled the scene after the shooting. The investigation is ongoing as police work to apprehend the retired officer.
