Reynosa mayor highlights 9.863 billion pesos spent on infrastructure, water and social support

Reynosa Mayor Carlos Peña Ortiz used his second government report to highlight 9.863 billion pesos spent on projects and programs intended to improve residents’ welfare and the city’s urban infrastructure.

At a formal city council session attended by Tamaulipas Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, Peña Ortiz said the municipality had carried out more than 523,000 health actions benefiting 148,000 people. It also distributed 181 tons of sorghum seed to support agricultural producers.

The mayor said more than 7 billion pesos went to public works, while spending exceeded 2.8 billion pesos for drinking water and sanitary drainage. Rehabilitation and construction of pavement received more than 2.3 billion pesos, and education infrastructure received more than 311 million pesos.

He also reported more than 1.6 billion pesos in social support, over 820 million pesos in scholarships for more than 172,000 students, more than 183 million pesos for arts and culture, and over 249 million pesos for sports support.

Peña Ortiz said, “The Reynosa we want can only be built through coordination, with a shared vision and by joining efforts among the three levels of government: federal, state and municipal.” Villarreal praised what he called their shared humanist vision and congratulated the mayor on the report. Senators, federal deputies, consular representatives and other officials attended the event.
