Ricardo Montaner asks Colombia's new president to help Venezuela regain freedom

During a concert in Barranquilla, Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella received a heartfelt plea from Venezuelan singer Ricardo Montaner. Montaner urged the new president to aid Venezuela in its quest to recover freedom and democracy.

The artist paused his performance to address the sensitive topic, sharing that he had prayed for the Colombian president to be granted "wisdom, humility, and conscience." Montaner underscored the deep historical relationship between Venezuela and Colombia, emphasizing their closeness.

"Today I asked God to give the new president of Colombia the wisdom, humility, and conscience to be clear that Venezuela is the closest and most brotherly country Colombia could have," Montaner stated. He expressed his hope that Colombia would actively contribute to political change in Venezuela.

"I asked the Lord that, through him, we would receive help in Venezuela to recover democracy and freedom as you are recovering it today," he added. Montaner concluded by reiterating his affection for Colombia and his plea, "I love you Colombia of my life. Help Venezuela recover its freedom and democracy. I tell you this and ask you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen, amen, and amen."
