Riesa Street-Art Festival Draws Nearly 17,000 Visitors, Double the 2024 Figure

Nearly 16,800 art fans and curious visitors attended this year’s Ibug street-art festival in Riesa, according to the organizers. The figure was twice the 8,500 visitors recorded when the festival was last held in the city in 2024.

The festival ended last weekend after three weekends at the former Muskator works. More than 70 artists from Germany and abroad presented their work across the site.

Ibug returned to the former feed factory for the second time since 2024. The festival takes over abandoned industrial sites and turns them into galleries for urban art at changing locations each year.

The event celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2026. It began in 2006 in Meerane, in the Zwickau district, on the initiative of graffiti artist Tasso. Its attendance record came in 2025, when 38,000 people visited the festival at a former hospital in Chemnitz as part of the city’s European Capital of Culture year.
