Right-wing commentator Milo Yiannopoulos reportedly detained by US immigration officials

Milo Yiannopoulos, the British political commentator and former Breitbart editor known for his vocal support of Donald Trump, has reportedly been detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Records from the agency indicate that Yiannopoulos, 41, may be held in Louisiana.

The circumstances surrounding his apparent detention are not yet clear. Yiannopoulos, who has described himself as the "most fabulous supervillain on the internet" and is often labeled by critics as a purveyor of hate speech, has been a prominent figure on the right-wing of US politics. He was an early supporter of Trump in 2016 and has backed the president's stricter immigration policies.

Yiannopoulos has faced widespread criticism for his comments on transgender people, Muslims, Black Lives Matter activists, and feminists, despite identifying as gay himself. He has written provocative columns, and in 2017, was uninvited from the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) after controversial remarks emerged. He later apologized and resigned from Breitbart.

While Yiannopoulos has been associated with the alt-right movement, he denies being part of it, though he has called the group "energizing and exciting." Neither ICE nor Yiannopoulos have yet responded to requests for comment.
