Rita Cetina Scholarship Cards Available at Profeco Back-to-School Fairs for School Supplies

As the 2026-2027 school year approaches, families of nearly 10 million public primary school students in Mexico can now utilize the Rita Cetina scholarship to purchase essential school supplies and uniforms. The announcement came from the Secretary of Public Education, Mario Delgado, during a visit to one of the Back-to-School Fairs organized by Profeco.

Delgado, accompanied by the Federal Consumer Prosecutor Iván Escalante Ruiz, highlighted that these fairs, held in 55 locations nationwide, are also serving as distribution points for the Rita Cetina scholarship cards. This initiative aims to provide crucial financial support to parents and guardians preparing their children for the upcoming school term, which begins on August 31.

The program is designed to benefit approximately 10 million children attending public primary schools. The funds are specifically allocated for the purchase of uniforms and school materials, ensuring that students are adequately equipped for their studies. Families have multiple options to use the funds, including at the Profeco fairs or at various commercial establishments selling school necessities.

"The goal is that no one is left behind due to a lack of school supplies," Delgado stated. He emphasized that the Rita Cetina scholarship is part of President Claudia Sheinbaum's strategy to enhance school retention and alleviate the financial burden on families during the back-to-school period. The fairs also offer discounts and promotions on school items, alongside free services like haircuts and medical certificates, fostering an equitable educational environment.
