Rite Foods Drives Academic Excellence with N35m Annual National Award

Rite Foods has introduced a significant N35 million annual National Academic Excellence award to celebrate and reward high-achieving students across Nigeria.

The initiative targets the highest-performing matriculating students from public universities in each of the country's six geopolitical zones. A special award is also designated for a recipient from JAMB’s Equal Opportunity Group, ensuring broader recognition. The maiden edition of the award ceremony recently took place in Lagos.

Through this initiative, Rite Foods is committing N35 million annually to reward the highest-performing Matriculants across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

According to the MD/CEO of Rite Foods, the award is designed to inspire ambition, reinforce the value of merit, and encourage young Nigerians to believe in the attainability of excellence. He emphasized that education is a fundamental driver of national development and that a nation's progress is intrinsically linked to the quality of its human capital. Investing in youth education and empowerment is crucial for sustainable economic growth.

Representing the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, Special Adviser Dr. Ismaila Adiatu, commended the award as a timely intervention supporting government efforts to enhance educational outcomes. He stressed the need for greater investment in education, noting Nigeria's shortages in critical sectors like healthcare and engineering, and called for stronger public-private partnerships. The Registrar and Chief Executive of JAMB, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, hailed the partnership as a landmark, aligning with JAMB's mission to promote fairness and merit in tertiary education admissions. He noted the award's unique focus on candidates who have successfully completed the full admission process, not just UTME performance.

He stressed the urgent need for increased investment in education, noting that Nigeria continues to face shortages in key professional sectors, including healthcare and engineering, and requires stronger collaboration between government and private sector stakeholders.
