Rivers@59: Fubara reaffirms commitment to peace, unity, development

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to fostering peace, unity, security, and inclusive development as the state marks its 59th anniversary. In a goodwill message, Fubara acknowledged the resilience and enduring spirit of unity demonstrated by Rivers people throughout the state's history, despite facing various challenges.

The governor underscored the strong bond of brotherhood among the state's diverse ethnic nationalities, including Ijaw, Ikwerre, Ogoni, Etche, Ekpeye, Andoni, and Kalabari, as a critical foundation for the state's peace, stability, and progress. He noted Rivers State's significant role as a driver of Nigeria's economy, attributing this not only to its oil and gas resources but also to the exceptional contributions of its people across various sectors like academia, business, and public service.

He stressed the importance of people-centered governance that yields impactful results, ensuring that every Local Government Area receives equal attention.

The governor also paid tribute to the state's elders and founding leaders for preserving unity and coexistence. He urged the youth to remain hopeful and committed to building a greater Rivers State through innovation, hard work, and patriotism. Fubara recognized the indispensable role of women in strengthening families, communities, and society, calling them vital partners in the state's continued growth and stability.
