Riyadh Consultations Intensify to Ensure Success of Southern Yemen Dialogue

Riyadh is hosting intensified consultations aimed at ensuring the success of an upcoming intra-southern dialogue in Yemen. Abdulrahman Al-Muharrami, a member of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, held an expanded meeting with a delegation from southern Yemen as part of these preparatory efforts.

The dialogue, which will be sponsored by Saudi Arabia, is viewed with significant anticipation by regional and international circles. Hopes are high that it will help shape the future of southern Yemen, guided by a vision agreed upon by the southerners themselves, ensuring inclusivity.

Al-Muharrami stressed the critical importance of cultivating the right political and societal climate within Yemen. This, he stated, is essential for building trust and fostering rapprochement among the diverse southern components. He expressed his hope that the dialogue would yield national agreements that advance the southern cause and fulfill the aspirations of its people.

During the meeting, proposals concerning the dialogue and its requirements for success were heard. Al-Muharrami stated that the dialogue must serve to "bolster southern ranks, preserve national gains, and strengthen unified positions." He affirmed the right of the southern people to determine their own fate and choose their political future. Saudi Arabia, he added, continues to support the people of the south, driven by its commitment to bolstering stability and agreement. The attendees on Sunday underscored the necessity of ongoing consultations and coordination to pave the way for the dialogue. They conveyed their gratitude for Saudi Arabia's multifaceted support to Yemen, encompassing political, economic, and service sectors, and acknowledged its role in enhancing security and stability across southern Yemen, the nation, and the wider region.
