Road blocked by spilled potatoes after truck overturns in Nevşehir

Traffic on the Nevşehir ring road in Turkey came to a standstill after a truck carrying potatoes overturned, spilling its load onto the highway. The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. as the truck, driven by H.T., was heading towards Aksaray. The trailer's cargo of roughly one ton of potatoes was scattered across the road near the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Han Köprülü Junction.

Emergency services, including police and municipal teams, were dispatched to the scene. Traffic police implemented safety measures, controlling the flow of vehicles for a period. Cleanup crews from the Nevşehir Municipality worked to collect the spilled potatoes, which were then loaded onto another truck using heavy machinery.

Following the cleanup operation, traffic flow gradually returned to normal. Authorities imposed a significant administrative fine of 33,066 Turkish Lira on the truck driver for causing the spillage and endangering road traffic. The incident caused considerable delays and highlighted the risks associated with unsecured cargo on major roadways.
