Roads impassable even for ambulances in Altınordu now fully renovated

Altınordu Municipality has concluded road improvement projects in its rural neighborhoods, addressing persistent transportation challenges through a collaborative effort between the municipality and residents. The recent work on Evliya Street in Günören Mahallesi and Street No. 1 in Boztepe Mahallesi marks the end of significant hardships for locals.

These specific streets were notorious for their narrow and dilapidated state, making it difficult even for ambulances and other emergency response vehicles to navigate. Following initiatives by Altınordu Mayor Ulaş Tepe, work commenced to pave these routes. The Rural Services Directorate oversaw the project, which involved constructing 380 meters of concrete road on Evliya Street and 180 meters on Street No. 1, totaling 560 meters.

There was no way for any vehicle other than a tractor or an agricultural vehicle to get through here. When I got sick, an ambulance barely managed to pick me up. The old condition was very bad. Swamp, mud, barren. We had been nailing horseshoes for nothing for 22 years. We applied to our mayor. Our mayor worked with the last drop of his blood. We have a perfect road. Such an investment is not seen in Ordu.

The newly completed concrete roads have significantly enhanced transportation safety and permanently resolved issues that residents had faced for years. Halil İbrahim Aksoy, a resident of Günören Mahallesi, described the previous conditions as a "swamp, mud, barren," noting that only off-road vehicles could pass and ambulances struggled to reach him when he was ill. He expressed immense satisfaction with the new road, calling it "perfect."

Similarly, Dursun Sönmez from Boztepe Mahallesi shared his relief, stating that the previous path was merely a trail. Visitors often had to leave their vehicles below and walk up, and some people even fell due to the poor conditions. "Thanks to our municipality, we now have a very beautiful road. We are proud. Now all kinds of cars can come up," he said.
