Roche expands US production with $750 million Oregon facility

Roche is significantly expanding its production capabilities in the United States with a new $750 million investment by its US subsidiary, Genentech. The funds will establish a new drug product filling and finishing facility on Genentech's campus in Hillsboro, Oregon. This expansion aims to bolster the company's capacity to support its future pipeline of innovative medicines.

The Hillsboro facility will focus on advanced drug delivery devices, including pre-filled syringes and autoinjectors. This strategic investment underscores Roche's commitment to enhancing its manufacturing infrastructure in the US, a market crucial for its pharmaceutical operations. The company already operates 13 manufacturing sites and 15 R&D locations across the United States.

This Oregon project is a component of Roche's larger commitment to invest $50 billion in the US. Previously, in April 2025, the company announced plans for a new manufacturing plant in Holly Springs, North Carolina. Scheduled to commence operations in 2029 with 500 employees, this North Carolina facility will primarily produce syringes for obesity treatments.

Collectively, these investments highlight Roche's strategy to strengthen its US presence and manufacturing base. The company currently employs approximately 25,000 people across 24 sites in eight US states, demonstrating a substantial and growing footprint in the American pharmaceutical landscape.
