‘Roll camera, action’: Udhayanidhi Stalin takes swipe at CM Vijay after fiery assembly session

Tamil Nadu’s ruling TVK and opposition DMK traded sharp allegations during a tense assembly session on Monday, with opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin accusing Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay of performing rather than answering.

In a post on X, Udhayanidhi questioned why Vijay had taken three days to produce printouts of Enforcement Directorate allegations and read them during his reply. He accused the chief minister of avoiding the opposition’s response and urged him to prepare better next time.

Vijay had alleged that the Enforcement Directorate accused the DMK of corruption involving party funds. He said the agency had mentioned former chief minister M.K. Stalin, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and Minister Senthil Balaji in connection with alleged collections made in the name of party funds. Vijay also referred to the Sarkaria Commission report and alleged that former chief minister M. Karunanidhi had abused his official position.

Instead of hiding again out of fear of hearing the Opposition’s response, prepare well next time. Try to do better!

The confrontation escalated after DMK lawmakers staged a sit-in on the floor in front of the Speaker, demanding the chance to respond. When the Speaker refused to allow them to speak, the opposition members walked out.

The Enforcement Directorate has also accused the DMK of corruption through party funds. The ED mentioned that during the last regime, MK Stalin, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, and Minister Senthil Balaji collected money in the name of party funds.
