Romania issues air alert in Tulcea County due to possible drone debris from Russian attacks on Ukraine

Residents of Tulcea County in Romania received an air alert on Monday morning, warning them of the potential for falling objects from the sky. The alert, issued around 8:50 AM, was prompted by ongoing Russian attacks targeting infrastructure in neighboring Ukraine.

Authorities advised residents to remain calm, seek shelter if necessary, and follow official guidance. This latest warning comes after a weekend during which the Romanian military intercepted and neutralized several drones that had entered Romanian airspace without authorization. Sunday marked the third consecutive day of such interventions.

The conflict in Ukraine is increasingly impacting the border region of Tulcea. For its residents, the war is no longer just distant explosions across the Danube River. In recent mornings, surveillance systems and mobile alerts have signaled the presence of drones near the Danube Delta, prompting military action.

Previously, Romanian military aircraft primarily monitored drones that accidentally crossed into national airspace. However, current operations involve actively neutralizing targets that pose a risk to Romania's security.
