Romanian Narrow-Gauge Railway Reborn Through Volunteer Efforts, Attracts Thousands of Tourists

A historic narrow-gauge railway line in Romania's Hârtibaci Valley is experiencing a revival, thanks to the dedicated efforts of volunteers. The restored section, which once linked the cities of Sibiu and Sighișoara, has become a unique tourist attraction, breathing new life into the region.

Horia Dinu, the general secretary of the Friends of Mocănița Association, shared insights into the extensive work undertaken to revitalize this piece of industrial heritage. The association's commitment has not only preserved the railway's historical significance but also created a compelling destination for visitors.

This initiative has proven successful in attracting tourists, with estimates suggesting between 9,000 and 10,000 visitors annually.
