Romanian nationals steal mobile phones in Dubrava; three detained and one still sought

Police detained three Romanian nationals after several mobile phones were stolen from a store in a shopping center in Dubrava, Zagreb. A fourth person linked to the theft escaped and remained the subject of an active search.

The theft occurred at about 3:40 p.m. when two unidentified people took advantage of an employee’s inattention. A 48-year-old store employee noticed them and tried to stop them, but they ran off with the devices.

A worker from a neighboring store spotted one of the suspects during the escape, caught up with him and held him until police arrived. Officers identified him as a 22-year-old Romanian national without regulated status in Croatia.

Police soon found two other people near the store who they linked to the theft. They detained Romanian women aged 21 and 29, also without regulated status in Croatia. The stolen phones were returned to an authorized store representative, while the investigation continued.
