Ronaldo scores winner, Al Nassr stays perfect in Saudi league

Cristiano Ronaldo once again proved decisive for Al Nassr, scoring the goal that completed a 2-1 comeback victory over Al Taawon. This win maintains his team's perfect record and leadership in the Saudi Pro League after four matches.

The Portuguese forward's strike also advanced his already impressive career goal tally. Ronaldo has now reached 978 official goals in his professional career, placing him just 22 goals shy of the 1,000-goal barrier. At 41 years old, he continues to be a central figure for an Al Nassr side that has started the season with four consecutive wins.

The match did not start favorably for Al Nassr, managed by Ange Postecoglou. Al Taawon took an early lead in the 11th minute with a goal from Bassam Al Hurayji. However, Al Nassr rallied before halftime, with Samu Costa equalizing in first-half stoppage time, assisted by Sadio Mané.

The comeback was completed just five minutes into the second half. Mohamed Simakan's shot from inside the area was deflected by Cristiano Ronaldo, changing its trajectory and finding the back of the net for the decisive 2-1 goal. Ronaldo played 80 minutes before being substituted by Abdullah Al Hamdan.

Beyond securing three points for Al Nassr, the goal brought Ronaldo closer to a significant personal milestone. His 978 official goals span a career that began over two decades ago with Sporting CP and includes stints at Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and now Al Nassr, in addition to his international goals for Portugal.
