The ruling People Power Party's Central Ethics Committee is set to convene on July 6 for a closed-door meeting to deliberate on initiating disciplinary procedures against dozens of party members. The focus is expected to be on lawmakers aligned with Han Dong-hoon, particularly those who accompanied him or actively campaigned for him during the recent by-election for the Busan Buk-gap constituency, where he won as an independent.

Sources within the party suggest that these pro-Han lawmakers are likely to be the primary targets for disciplinary action. This move is anticipated to intensify internal party conflicts, as pro-Han factions have already signaled their intent to resist strongly, warning of a significant backlash.

Choi Bo-yoon, the senior spokesperson for the People Power Party, confirmed the upcoming ethics committee meeting, stating, "The ethics committee meeting will be held tomorrow (the 6th). Actions detrimental to the party will be decided by the ethics committee in accordance with party regulations." The committee will discuss whether to proceed with disciplinary hearings for individuals who have faced disciplinary requests.
