Russia and China: Two brotherly nations showing unwavering support for Cuba

Cuba's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has lauded the "genuine solidarity" offered by Russia and China, emphasizing the crucial support received from both nations amidst the current geopolitical landscape. The remarks were made by Carlos Miguel Pereira Hernández, Director General of Bilateral Affairs at the Ministry, during the First Joint Seminar commemorating the 77th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 30th anniversary of the strategic coordination partnership between Russia and China.

Held in Havana, the event served to reaffirm the "strategic value of cooperation and mutual support" between the three nations, described as "brother countries" of Cuba. Pereira Hernández stressed Cuba's unwavering commitment to defending its sovereignty and revolution, drawing inspiration from the legacy of Raúl Castro Ruz on his 95th birthday.

He further underscored the robust political dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation sustained with Russia and China. These nations, he noted, have consistently advocated for supporting Cuba's national development strategy based on respect and shared benefits. The Cuban diplomat characterized the strategic coordination between Russia and China as an alternative model of integration and a positive example of sovereignty and resistance against Western hegemony.

Russian Ambassador to Cuba, Viktor Koronelli, highlighted the extensive network of over 300 intergovernmental treaties and agreements between Russia and China as a cornerstone of their "new era of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction." He pointed out their strengthened coordination in multilateral forums like the UN, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and BRICS. Koronelli also condemned the intensified U.S. blockade against Cuba as a "criminal policy that violates all norms of International Law," reiterating the support of both Russia and China for Cuba's sovereignty and rejection of external interference.

China's Ambassador to Cuba, Hua Xin, echoed these sentiments, stating that Cuba's unity in safeguarding its sovereignty and national security against U.S. threats has earned it international respect. He outlined three key factors strengthening Sino-Russian ties: top-level strategic design, pragmatic cooperation as a driving force, and mutual support in international affairs.
