Russia attacks Ukraine with drones and missiles; civilian ship hit in Black Sea

Fragments of a missile struck an 18-story building in Shevchenkivskyi, igniting fires on the seventh and eighth floors. Emergency services battled blazes in a warehouse and multiple vehicles in Desnianskyi, while an abandoned four-story building in Shevchenkivskyi and an administrative building in Solomianskyi were also damaged and caught fire. Initially reported as having no casualties, authorities later confirmed three people were injured in Solomianskyi.

The attacks extended to the Black Sea, where Russian forces twice targeted a commercial vessel under the Palau flag on Tuesday evening. The ship, carrying approximately 2,800 tons of corn destined for Greece, caught fire after being hit by drones. While the crew and a Ukrainian pilot assisting the vessel were rescued, two crew members remain missing after being thrown into the water during the initial explosions. Search and rescue operations are ongoing. Ukrainian officials condemned the attack, calling it a deliberate strike against civilian infrastructure and international maritime transport with potential implications for global food security.
