Russian Industrial Sites Ablaze After Ukrainian Drone Attacks

Russia's western city of Ryazan experienced significant disruption Tuesday after Ukrainian drone attacks struck industrial facilities, igniting fires and prompting major online retailer Wildberries to evacuate its local warehouses. Regional Governor Pavel Malkov stated that 45 drones were intercepted over the region overnight, but falling debris caused a fire in an industrial zone and damaged a residential building, leading to six hospitalizations.

The attacks are part of a broader escalation by Ukraine, which has increasingly targeted Russian industrial sites. Wildberries, in particular, faces accusations from Kyiv of assisting the Russian army. According to company and local officials, drones have damaged at least seven Wildberries warehouses in recent days, impacting approximately 10% of the company's storage capacity and disrupting operations for numerous small businesses reliant on the platform.

Meanwhile, in separate incidents, missile debris hit an apartment building in the southern Russian city of Taganrog, killing one woman and injuring another. In Ukraine, Russian attacks in Kherson resulted in one death and three injuries, while the Dnipropetrovsk region reported five injuries, including a child, from drone, aerial bomb, and artillery strikes. Russia's Ministry of Defence claimed its drones destroyed two vessels carrying weapons near Odesa.

Ukraine's acting defense minister, Yevhenii Khmara, emphasized the need for Ukraine to employ "asymmetric" tactics against Russia, acknowledging the disparity in military resources. This comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss plans for producing Patriot missile interceptors and reviving peace talks.
