Russian Strikes on Kyiv Kill 4, Injure at Least 15

Russian missile attacks on Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, resulted in at least four civilian deaths and over a dozen injuries on Saturday. The city's mayor issued an urgent warning of a ballistic missile attack, advising residents to seek shelter immediately.

Kyiv's military administration confirmed the casualties, while Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on Telegram that 15 people, including two teenage boys aged 13 and 17, were hospitalized. Agence France-Presse journalists in the city reported hearing a series of more than ten explosions, which triggered car alarms.

These strikes follow a period of intensified long-range attacks by Moscow. The United Nations previously reported that June was the deadliest month for civilians in Ukraine since April 2022. On Thursday, a combined Russian ballistic missile and drone barrage across Ukraine killed at least eight civilians, including children, and wounded many others.

Ukraine has escalated its retaliatory strikes on Russia in recent months, targeting energy and logistics infrastructure. Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledged in June that these Ukrainian strikes were causing "problems" for Russia, though he described them as "not critical." Russian online retail giant Wildberries reported a fire at its logistics facility in Volgograd on Friday, following an overnight attack, marking the latest in a series of strikes on the company's facilities.
