Russian Su-57 fighter jet crashes during training flight near Moscow

A fifth-generation Russian Su-57 fighter jet crashed on Thursday during a training flight near Zvenigorod in the Moscow region. The pilot managed to eject from the aircraft and is reported to be safe, with no threat to his life.

The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the incident, stating that the crash occurred during takeoff. The ministry also specified that the aircraft was not carrying any ammunition at the time of the accident, and no damage to ground facilities was reported.

According to Russian media reports, the pilot made efforts to steer the fighter jet away from populated areas before ejecting. The aircraft ultimately crashed in a field located between the Shikhovo residential area and the village of Lukino. Russian bloggers shared images from the crash site on Telegram.

The Sukhoi Su-57 is a single-seat, twin-engine jet fighter designed for air superiority and combat missions. It is Russia's first aircraft to feature stealth technology, which is intended to minimize its detectability by enemy radar and sensors.
