Ryan Gosling joins Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ghost Rider, film set for release in 2028

Ryan Gosling is set to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Ghost Rider, reuniting with director Shawn Levy, who previously worked with him on "Star Wars: Starfighter." A standalone film featuring Gosling's Ghost Rider is scheduled for release in 2028. The casting news was revealed on Saturday, July 25, at Comic-Con International's Hall H, where Gosling appeared alongside Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige. The announcement was met with cheers from an audience of approximately 7,000 fans, many of whom were given Doctor Doom masks by the studio. Gosling's partner, Eva Mendes, previously starred alongside Nicolas Cage in the 2007 "Ghost Rider" film. While film rights for the character have since reverted to Marvel, Ghost Rider has not yet appeared in the MCU. The character's cinematic history includes a 2012 sequel released by Sony. In addition to the Ghost Rider news, Marvel Studios also shared other significant updates. "Avengers: Endgame" will be re-released on September 25 with new footage, leading into "Avengers: Doomsday," due out December 18, 2026. "Black Panther 3" was also unveiled, introducing David Jonsson as a new T'Challa, the son of the late Chadwick Boseman. "Black Panther 3" is slated for release on December 15, 2028, with "Avengers: Secret Wars" following in December 2027.
