Ryanair to Launch New Direct Zagreb Route to Warsaw, Dubbed ‘Europe’s New York’

Ryanair is adding a direct Zagreb connection to Warsaw just as it removes another route from the Croatian capital’s winter schedule. From October 26, 2026, the airline plans to fly between Zagreb and Warsaw Modlin twice a week, on Mondays and Saturdays.

The flight should take about one hour and 40 minutes, making the service suitable for a short break or long weekend. The late-October launch also means the route will operate during Warsaw’s Advent season, when visitors can see Christmas markets, the Old Town and the Royal Route.

Passengers will not arrive at Warsaw’s main Chopin Airport. Ryanair will use Modlin, which sits about 40 kilometers from the city center. Travelers can reach the Polish capital by bus or by combining a bus journey with a train.

At the same time, Ryanair plans to suspend Zagreb-Thessaloniki flights after the last currently scheduled service on November 1. The route will not operate through the 2026/27 winter season, although it could return in the summer schedule for 2027.

The airline has linked the cuts to high airport charges in Greece. It plans to reduce winter capacity there by about 700,000 seats, or roughly 45 percent from the previous winter season, with Thessaloniki particularly affected. Other routes set to lose winter connections with Thessaloniki include Berlin, Chania, Frankfurt Hahn, Gothenburg, Heraklion, Niederrhein, Poznan, Stockholm and Venice Treviso. Zagreb is one of five new routes Ryanair plans to add from Modlin for the winter season, alongside Bratislava, Bristol, Manchester and Shannon. The airline is expected to base eight aircraft at Modlin and operate 30 routes.
