Sabrina Carpenter wins first Emmy for ‘The Muppet Show’

Sabrina Carpenter has added an Emmy to her growing collection of major awards, winning her first for Disney+’s “The Muppet Show.” The special took the Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) prize at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, with Carpenter recognised as one of its executive producers.

The programme, which premiered in February, brought Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo and the rest of the Muppets back to their original variety-show format. Carpenter appeared as the celebrity guest star and performed “Manchild.” Maya Rudolph and Seth Rogen also appeared, with Rogen serving as an executive producer alongside Carpenter and others.

Carpenter celebrated the win on social media by thanking the Television Academy and praising the production team. “Thank you TelevisionAcad So incredibly proud of the whole Muppets crew on our Emmy wins,” she wrote. “A whole lot of love and happiness and hard work and diva fights went into making this special,” she added.

The special was released to mark the 50th anniversary of “The Muppet Show,” which first aired in 1976. It received six Emmy nominations and beat nominees including Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour: The Final Show.” Carpenter’s Emmy follows her first Grammy Awards in 2025, leaving her halfway to the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony distinction known as EGOT.
