Sadie Sink and Adam Driver join Marvel's X-Men reboot cast

Marvel Studios has unveiled a star-studded cast for its upcoming X-Men reboot, generating significant excitement among fans. At Disney's D23 fan event, "Stranger Things" star Sadie Sink and "Star Wars" actor Adam Driver were announced as key additions to the ensemble.

Sink is set to embody Jean Grey, a character whose presence was recently hinted at in "Spiderman: Brand New Day." She expressed her delight at the event, stating it was "so wonderful" to finally discuss her character after months of speculation. Adam Driver, joining via video link, will take on the role of the villainous Nathaniel Milbury, also known as Mr. Sinister. Driver shared his long-held desire to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, believing this project is the "perfect film at the perfect time."

The currently untitled X-Men film will be helmed by director Jake Schreier, with a planned theatrical release in May 2028. The casting news extends beyond Sink and Driver, with Kit Connor joining as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier (or X), Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Maya Boyd as Storm.

This new iteration of Professor X will be played by Abbott, succeeding Sir Patrick Stewart, who portrayed the character in films like "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" and will reprise the role in the upcoming "Avengers: Doomsday." The last X-Men film, "Dark Phoenix," was released in June 2019 under 20th Century Fox before Disney acquired the franchise rights. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige indicated that more casting news for the X-Men franchise is forthcoming.
