Sadyr Japarov says Kyrgyzstan should become a regional virtual-asset hub

President Sadyr Japarov has called for Kyrgyzstan to become a regional hub for virtual assets and blockchain technologies. He made the proposal at a meeting of the National Council for the Development of Virtual Assets and Blockchain Technologies at Issyk-Kul.

Japarov said Kyrgyzstan was steadily improving legislation and creating the technological and financial infrastructure needed to support the sector. He also pointed to growing interest from businesses and investors. In his view, the creation of the national council was timely. During its first year and a half, the council brought together government agencies, professional and expert communities, and international partners to develop strategic decisions for the industry.

The president also stressed the importance of creating a National Agency for Virtual Assets and Blockchain Technologies. He said the agency should regulate and develop the sector effectively while coordinating its key processes.
