Sahara Group Advances Energy Access in Africa with $50,000 Asharami M.A.D Equation

Sahara Group has launched the Asharami M.A.D Equation, a $50,000 innovation program aimed at accelerating Africa's energy transition. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between academic research and practical application, turning groundbreaking ideas into scalable solutions that can expand energy access, enhance system resilience, and drive sustainable development across the continent.

The program directly addresses a critical challenge within Africa's innovation ecosystem, where valuable research often remains confined to academic journals. By connecting African researchers with real operational challenges across the energy value chain, Sahara Group is creating a pathway for ideas to move from theory to impactful, large-scale execution. Ejiro Gray, Director of Governance and Sustainability at Sahara Group, emphasized that Africa's energy future hinges on its ability to translate knowledge into action, and the Asharami M.A.D Equation is designed to unlock the potential of its academic and research communities.

Open to innovators across Africa, particularly at postgraduate and advanced research levels, the program prioritizes ideas demonstrating analytical depth, practical applicability, scalability, and alignment with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities. Participants will compete for a total prize pool of $50,000, with awards for first, second, and third place, alongside access to mentorship, technical support, and opportunities for real-world implementation within Sahara Group's operations.
