Sakani Program Launches First Residential Towers in Riyadh

Saudi Arabia's Sakani housing program is expanding into residential towers in Riyadh for the first time, a move aimed at diversifying housing options and boosting supply in the capital. This initiative supports the broader goals of the Housing Program and Saudi Vision 2030, which targets a 70 percent homeownership rate for Saudi families by 2030.

The first residential tower project under the Sakani program is Makanah, developed by Almajdiah. This 33-story development features a blend of Salmani architecture and contemporary design, offering apartments and penthouses in a prime Riyadh location near major landmarks.

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing reported that as of the end of May 2026, 51,072 Saudi families had moved into their first homes, and 38,471 families had received housing support services. Since Sakani's launch in 2017, over 1 million subsidized housing contracts have been issued, with Riyadh leading in demand, followed by Makkah, the Eastern Region, and Jazan.

The ministry emphasizes its strategy extends beyond homeownership to developing integrated residential communities that enhance quality of life and foster sustainable urban environments. Saudi homeownership reached 66.24 percent by the end of 2025, progressing toward the 2030 target. The ministry remains committed to launching more projects with private sector partners to meet demand, stabilize the real estate market, and cultivate thriving communities.
