Salah Arrives in Türkiye Ahead of Expected Move to Trabzonspor

Mohamed Salah has landed in Türkiye, wearing the Trabzonspor shirt, as he nears a transfer to the Turkish club. Trabzonspor announced that negotiations have commenced with the iconic Liverpool player, who flew to Istanbul to finalize the deal.

Video footage showed Salah aboard a private jet, sporting the team's blue and burgundy striped jersey, before his arrival in Istanbul. Hundreds of chanting fans were present to welcome him. Turkish television also broadcast images of Salah wearing a shirt with the number 61, and reported that his official signing ceremony is scheduled for Thursday in the Black Sea city.

Salah, 34, is a free agent following his departure from Liverpool at the end of the previous season. During his tenure with Liverpool, he established himself as a Premier League great, securing two league titles and a Champions League trophy among eight major honors. He scored 257 goals in 442 appearances for the Merseyside club, solidifying his status as one of its all-time greatest players.

However, Salah's final season at Anfield was marked by a significant drop in form and a public disagreement with then-coach Arne Slot. He scored only 12 goals across all competitions last season, a stark contrast to the 34 goals he scored the previous campaign. He had announced in March his intention to leave the club at the season's end, despite having one year remaining on his contract signed in 2025. Trabzonspor, a seven-time Turkish champion, finished third in the league last season.
