Salah scores as Egypt beat New Zealand 3-1 for first World Cup win

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah netted his first goal of the tournament as Egypt achieved a historic 3-1 victory over New Zealand, marking their first-ever World Cup win.

The Pharaohs rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit, with Salah, Mostafa Zico, and Trezeguet all scoring in a dominant second-half performance. Zico contributed a goal and an assist, while Salah also provided an assist, showcasing a strong attacking display.

New Zealand had taken the lead in the 15th minute through Finn Surman's header from a corner kick. However, Egypt's second-half resurgence, starting just 40 seconds after the break with Salah pressuring the New Zealand goalkeeper, proved too much for the All Whites.

Zico equalized in the 58th minute with a header, before Salah scored Egypt's second goal in the 67th minute, assisted by Zico. Trezeguet sealed the victory late in the game. The win propels Egypt to the top of Group G, significantly boosting their chances of advancing to the knockout stages.
