The baby is the son of her stepson, François Pinault Jr., and his wife, Countess Lara Cosima Henckel von Donnersmarck. Lara Cosima Henckel von Donnersmarck, 23, was born in Florida and raised in Los Angeles. She comes from a prominent German noble family and is the daughter of Oscar-winning filmmaker Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck and jurist Christiane Asschenfeldt. Before her marriage, she pursued a career as a model and influencer, amassing nearly 800,000 Instagram followers. The baby's name, François, continues a four-generation tradition within the Pinault family, shared by his father, grandfather François-Henri Pinault, and great-grandfather François Pinault, the founder of the business conglomerate that birthed the luxury group Kering.

François Jr. was born in 1998 during François-Henri Pinault's first marriage to designer Dorothée Lepère, with whom he also has a daughter, Mathilde.
