Salomón Rondón Reaches Scoring Lead in Mexico

Venezuelan striker Salomón Rondón has surged to the top of the Mexican Apertura tournament's scoring charts, netting a goal for his team, Pachuca, on Sunday. However, his individual success was not enough to secure a victory, as Pachuca ultimately fell 1-2 to Querétaro in the closing match of the second league round.

Rondón opened the scoring for Pachuca in the third minute with a header, assisted by Oussama Idrissi. This strike marked his third goal of the season, drawing him level with Lucas Ocampos of Monterrey as the league's joint top scorer.

Querétaro, undeterred by conceding early, pressed forward and created several chances. Despite lacking consistent finishing, they managed to turn the game around in the second half. Alí Ávila scored twice for Querétaro, first in the 58th minute with a header and then securing the win with a left-footed goal in the 90+4 minute.

The loss saw Pachuca slip to sixth place in the standings with one win and one loss, accumulating three points. Querétaro shares the same record but sits in tenth position. Meanwhile, Tijuana currently leads the league, maintaining a perfect record of two wins and six points.
