Salon Air Conditioner Explosion Injures 10 in Old Dhaka

An explosion at a salon in Old Dhaka has left at least 10 people with burn injuries, including four barbers and six customers. The incident occurred early today at Arman Salon in the Bangshal Alu Bazar area.

According to those present, the salon's air conditioning unit suddenly exploded with a loud bang, igniting a fire that engulfed the premises. The injured were subsequently rescued by locals and transported to the emergency department of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

Shaon Bin Rahman, a resident surgeon at the institute, confirmed that all 10 victims were brought from the Bangshal Alu Bazar area. The severity of the burns varies among the injured. Md Faruk sustained burns to 50 percent of his body, while Rinko suffered 21 percent burns. Other victims, including Raju, Pappu, Shamshed, Arman, Rafik, Rony, Jasim, and Sakib, suffered burns ranging from 1 to 18 percent of their bodies.

Nine of the injured individuals have been admitted to the hospital for treatment, while one victim is currently under observation. The cause of the air conditioner explosion remains under investigation.
