Samsung eyes billion-euro investment in French ChatGPT rival Mistral

Samsung, the world's largest smartphone and TV manufacturer, is reportedly in negotiations to invest a significant sum in Mistral, a French artificial intelligence developer. The potential investment, estimated at around 1 billion euros ($7.48 billion), is part of a larger capital-raising effort by Mistral.

According to the Financial Times, the funding round is also expected to include contributions from the Swedish private equity firm EQT. This investment would value Mistral at approximately 20 billion euros (just under $150 billion). Mistral is positioning itself as a key European competitor aiming to challenge the dominance of U.S. tech giants in the rapidly growing field of artificial intelligence.
