Samsung Lions leap to second place with sweep over KT Wiz; Hanwha Eagles return to .500

The Samsung Lions surged to second place in the KBO league standings with a decisive 7-4 victory over the KT Wiz on Sunday. This win marked their fourth consecutive triumph, continuing a strong run of form.

The Lions overturned a 1-2 deficit in the sixth inning when Goo Ja-wook hit a two-run double. Shortly after, Choi Hyoung-woo extended the lead with a two-run home run, his first since late May, giving Samsung a comfortable 5-2 advantage. Although KT narrowed the gap to 5-4 in the seventh with a two-run homer, Samsung responded immediately with two RBI hits in the bottom half of the inning to seal the win.

Starting pitcher Yang Chang-seop earned his sixth win of the season, delivering a solid performance with six innings pitched, allowing two runs on four hits. KT's starter Ko Young-pyo took the loss, dropping his record to 6-5.

The NC Dinos secured a 9-2 win over the Kiwoom Heroes, featuring four home runs, while the Lotte Giants outlasted the LG Twins in a high-scoring affair, winning 11-9.
