Samsung maintains sole lead with win, pitcher Yang Chang-seop sets personal best

Samsung Lions clinched a 4-1 victory over the Lotte Giants, solidifying their sole first-place position in the KBO League.

The win, achieved in their first game of the second half of the season, marked Samsung's second consecutive win and improved their record to 52 wins, 2 draws, and 32 losses. This places them one game ahead of the LG Twins, who lost to KT Wiz.

Manager Park Jin-man entrusted Yang Chang-seop with the role of the team's primary starting pitcher for the second half after ace Hurrad suffered a shoulder injury. Yang delivered a strong performance, pitching five innings and allowing only one run on six hits, with five strikeouts, to earn the win.

This victory marks Yang Chang-seop's eighth win of the season, setting a new personal best and surpassing his previous record of seven wins from his rookie year in 2018. Despite giving up a solo home run in the first inning, Yang and the Samsung defense held Lotte scoreless for the remainder of the game, with stellar plays from the fielders supporting Yang's effort.
