Samsung’s largest union to vote next month on companywide fund for performance bonuses

Samsung Electronics’ largest union will put a proposal for a companywide performance-bonus fund to a membership vote next month. The supra-company union said it would hold a general meeting on the 6th.

The union sent a notice to the National Samsung Electronics Union and the Samsung Electronics Donghaeng Union about coordinating bargaining proposals related to bonus distribution. It said the vote would include demands raised by those two unions concerning a common companywide fund.

The meeting will take place before the policy committee coordinates bargaining items later in the month. The supra-company union said it wanted to reflect members’ views in advance.

“The union’s policy direction should be decided by a vote of the members,” it said. The three agenda items include the companywide integration of performance-bonus distribution standards, improvements to deficit penalties for the System LSI and foundry divisions, and a rule change limiting eligibility to employees in the DS division.
