Samuel García and Mariana Rodríguez honour Nuevo León Civil Force officers as institution marks 15 years

Nuevo León’s Civil Force marked its 15th anniversary by promoting officers and recognising those credited with meritorious service. Governor Samuel García and Mariana Rodríguez presented the awards during events for Police Day.

García used the occasion to defend his administration’s overhaul of the institution. He said the state had invested more than 30 billion pesos over five years, covering its constitution, leadership structure and funding. “That is how we have spent five years rebuilding the Civil Force. From the Constitution, from the top, from the organisational chart and from the money we have invested, today it is the best police force in Mexico,” he said.

The governor also credited officers with improving Nuevo León’s security ranking. “You are the ones who show their faces, carry the weapons and get into the patrol cars. You police officers have helped Nuevo León move from fourth place to 24th place. We are no longer average; we are now among the safest states in Mexico,” García said.

Rodríguez praised the force’s women officers, saying they carried out their duties while also meeting responsibilities as mothers. “To each of you, thank you. This institution would not be the same without your work, and in the new Nuevo León we are working so that women have more opportunities every day to keep showing what we are capable of achieving,” she said.

Gerardo Escamilla, head of the Civil Force, said coordination with municipalities, prosecutors and federal authorities had changed the way operations were planned. Awards for service and career achievements went to subinspectors whose actions were linked to reductions in high-impact crime in rural areas, the metropolitan region and the citrus-growing region.
