Samuel García calls Nuevo León’s Fuerza Civil ‘Mexico’s best police force’ as he awards 600 promotions and medals

Samuel García used Fuerza Civil’s 15th anniversary to declare that Nuevo León’s police force should no longer measure itself only against the rest of Mexico, but against leading international agencies.

At a ceremony held during the Expo Fuerza Civil XV Años Transformando la Seguridad at Cintermex, the governor presented more than 600 promotions and medals to officers. He said Fuerza Civil had become the national leader in performance and citizen confidence, and described its reported reductions in high-impact crime as unprecedented.

García also highlighted an investment of more than 35 billion pesos in equipment and improvements to officers’ quality of life and working conditions. The equipment listed included more than 100 Black Mambas, 1,200 pickup patrol vehicles, 300 highway-police Blazers, nine helicopters and two Black Hawks. He said Nuevo León was the only state with an air division.

The governor said high-impact crime fell significantly in August, including an 87% reduction in homicides over a 21-year period. He also urged officers to protect the institution’s name and avoid questionable acts that could damage its reputation.

García said he had pledged at the start of his administration to protect the six million people of Nuevo León, whom he described as grateful for the security gains. He added that data from Mexico’s national statistics agency, INEGI, placed the state first in public confidence, performance and efficiency for seven consecutive years.
