Sani Musa Mourns Lifelong Friend, Mohammed Bello, After 43 Years of Brotherhood

Senator Mohammed Sani Musa is mourning Mohammed Bala, a friend and brother with whom he shared 43 years of friendship, memories and difficult and joyful moments.

Bala died shortly after midnight on Monday at the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi, Abuja. Musa, chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance and representative of Niger East Senatorial District, described the death as a devastating loss.

He said their relationship began in 1983 and included “four decades of friendship, brotherhood, memories, laughter, conversations, difficult moments and beautiful moments”.

He had a good heart. He was the kind of friend whose presence brought comfort, and whose friendship you never took for granted.

Musa remembered Bala as “a fine gentleman in the truest sense”, saying he was kind, patient, humble, gentle and deeply persevering. “He had a good heart. He was the kind of friend whose presence brought comfort, and whose friendship you never took for granted,” he said.

The senator said Bala’s life had become intertwined with his own. “There are memories only the two of us could understand, moments that cannot be recreated and conversations that I wish I could have one more time.” He said he would miss Bala’s presence, voice and kindness, while expressing gratitude for their years together and praying that Allah would forgive his shortcomings and receive him with mercy.

Death has taken him from us, but it cannot take away the memories, the brotherhood and the love that we shared for 43 years.
