Santa Cruz faces a week of intense heat, strong winds and two cold fronts

Santa Cruz is heading into a week of sharp weather swings, with extreme heat, powerful winds, rain and two short-lived cold fronts expected across the department.

The hottest conditions will arrive in Chiquitanía, where temperatures could reach 40°C. Cordillera may see highs of 36°C, while Andrés Ibáñez and the Norte Integrado are forecast to reach 34°C. The Valles Cruceños are expected to record highs of 31°C.

According to agrometeorologist Luis Alpire, hot weather and strong northerly winds will affect the department on Monday, August 31. Similar conditions are expected from Wednesday, September 2, with the strongest combination of heat and wind forecast for Thursday, September 3.

Two mild cold fronts are expected to enter overnight on August 31 and September 4. Both should be brief and bring precipitation. The heaviest rain is forecast at the start of the week, mainly in the capital, Andrés Ibáñez, the Norte Integrado and the Valles. Cordillera should receive light rain, while Chiquitanía is expected to see only showers.
