Sanwo-Olu: We’ve Empowered 40,000 Lagos Residents with Business Tools to Boost SMEs

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced that his administration has empowered approximately 40,000 residents with essential business tools over the past seven years, aiming to bolster small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) across the state. This initiative is a key component of the Micro Enterprise Support Initiative (MESI) Empowerment Programme.

The program, organized by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, seeks to improve livelihoods and foster economic self-reliance among residents. During a recent event, participants received a variety of business equipment, including sewing and stoning machines, catering supplies, hairdressing kits, photography equipment, agricultural processing machines, and deep freezers. Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that these tools are crucial for building sustainable businesses and achieving financial independence.

Sanwo-Olu highlighted that the MESI program directly supports the administration's THEMES+ Agenda, underscoring the importance of empowering small business owners, artisans, traders, women, and young entrepreneurs to strengthen the state's economy. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to improving lives and creating opportunities for residents to reach their full potential.

"From the very first day of this administration, we made a commitment to build a Greater Lagos where no one is left behind," Sanwo-Olu stated. "We promised to create opportunities, support businesses, empower our people and ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every community." He asserted that seven years on, the administration's record demonstrates a consistent focus on delivering practical results that enhance the lives of Lagosians, with the THEMES+ Agenda serving as the roadmap for grassroots development.
